      Fire protection curtains

      Fire protection curtains are seal openings in walls and ceilings in case of fire. The constructional set-up (rolling- or folding technology) and the use of different fabrics offer a wide application spectrum as well as different protection targets or classifications and time classes. Casings and side guides of those flexible applicable systems are integrated almost invisibly in the building and provide much scope for design of sophisticated architecture for opened designs.

      Manifold production - and logisitc processes require different construction types of conveying systems. If the haulage drifts are passing through fire-retarding resp. fire-resisting walls or ceilings, the necessary openings must be provided with fire protection closures to avoid the expansion of the fire by conveyor technique or by conveyed material. In case of fire the conveyor system closures have to seal those openings immediately and automatically. Thereby a classified fire resistance as well as the smoothly clearing of the closing area must be respected in case of release.

They are safety-relevant, because without their function or in the event of a malfunction, the entire investment of a fire protection partition would be useless. Controllers coordinate both fire detection and the interaction with other controls, like superordinate building control or the retraction of the closing area at conveyor closing area.

30 years ago yesterday ...

.. Jochen Stöbich signed the foundation charter and laid the foundation stone for PROTEC-24. What else was going on in the world in 1993?

When PROTEC-24 was founded in 1993, we all didn't have a smartphone yet, but always carried three pennies for the pay phone. Bill Clinton was the new President of the United States of America, the EU was founded and with it the European Single Market. Whitney Houston sang her way to the top of the charts with "I will always love you," five-digit postal codes were introduced in Germany, and the Space Shuttle Endeavour launched into space for the first maintenance of the Hubble Space Telescope.

At ➥ PROTEC-24, the maintenance business also took off rapidly - first for the company's own systems and later for those of other manufacturers. For example, the service portfolio included conveyor system closures, textile fire protection systems, fire doors/gates and power-operated door and gate systems. The first locations in Goslar, Bopfingen and Taucha were each staffed with one employee; over the years, a nationwide service network was established.

"We always come" was the first slogan - and this full-service idea has remained with PROTEC-24 to this day.
