Safety when handling lithium-ion batteries
Due to their chemical composition, lithium-ion batteries pose an increased risk of fire. STÖBICH solutions ensure safety - from early fire detection to hazardous goods packaging for transportation.
Time and again, dangerous accidents occur in connection with energy storage systems. For example, there was recently a major fire at a recycling plant in the south of France in which ➥ 900 tons of lithium-ion batteries went up in smoke. Fortunately, there was no danger to people, but the fire continued to burn into the night.
With innovative solutions for early fire detection such as the ➥ Fire Multi Detector from STÖBICH, such incidents can be prevented: Using optical sensors, the multifunctional tool detects heat, smoke and flames as soon as a fire starts.
Another topic is the ADR-compliant removal of critical lithium-ion batteries by the fire department. For this case, we have developed special transport boxes in various sizes, the ➥ StrainBoxes. The Goslar Volunteer Fire Brigade, for example, has been working with these fire protection solutions for energy storage systems from STÖBICH for some time now.
