Smoke curtains save lives

Smoke curtains save lives

70% of all fire damage is smoke damage, and 90% of all fire victims are smoke deaths. Alarming numbers that underscore the need for effective action. Smoke protection curtains are the flexible alternative to solid fire protection doors and gates, but are they just as reliably airtight?

When it burns, highly toxic fire gases are generated and it becomes extremely hot. At STÖBICH, we have developed special smoke protection curtains in order to quickly encircle the smoke in the fire development phase and thus to be able to safely rescue people, animals and property without breathing protection. Just like our Fiberseal product from the Fibershield® series: The curtain is smoke-proof at ambient temperatures and up to 200 ° C (S200; tested according to EN 1634-3: 2005-01; classified according to EN 13501-2: 2016). The highly efficient "Heliotex" fabric fulfills protection goals from E 0 to EW 120, i.e. That is, the radiation is repelled for up to 120 minutes. This means that the initial question can be answered with a clear “yes”: Our textile systems are as safe as a steel gate, but lighter and more discreet, as the curtain only rolls up in the event of a fire and is otherwise hidden in an inconspicuous housing.

As with the application examples shown here: The smoke protection curtain on an elevator shaft prevents smoke from being transferred from one floor to the next via the elevator shaft. In the reception area of a hotel, this part is sealed off in order to prevent the fire gases from spreading into other rooms. In general, Fiberseal is particularly suitable for elevated installation locations such as receptions. There is a high need for exchange here, and the usual walls would only disrupt communication.
